Načeva
“There are certainly many more poets in our poetic past who deserve to finally be heard. These often outsiders deserve it very much, because true poetry is like a pearl in the artistic sea. And it is needed in our everyday, increasingly difficult and dark days!”
Four years after the release of the album Zdivočelí koně, Monika Načeva continues the project of setting poems by artists persecuted by the previous regime from the 60s to the 80s with the new album Jdem temným denem. It will present ten songs with lyrics by Šárka Smazalová, Vladimíra Čerepková, Ivan Blatný, Jan Hanč, Pavel Zajíček, Milan Koch, Věra Jirousová and Egon Bondy, whose poem also gave the album its name.
The producers of the new album are Monika Načeva and Tomáš Vtípil, who makes a guest appearance on the album and is behind the first mix. The second mix and master were prepared by Amák Golden, Načeva's long-time collaborator and her court sound engineer.
On the album and during live concerts, Načeva surrounded herself with musicians from opposite poles of the Czech alternative scene - Zdeněk Regál Jurčík (Lvmen, Tomáš Palucha, Priessnitz, Kafka band) on drums, Vojtěch Procházka (Vertigo, Harpreet Bansal, Freetown Quartet, Mikoo, Sisa Feher, Talaqpo) on keyboards and Michal Koval (Masomlejn, Dg 307, with whom Načeva also recorded the album Nebe je rudý).
The album cover carries not only the poems themselves, but also the work of a contemporary Czech artist. In collaboration with curator Otto M. Urban, Siegfried Herz was approached, who painted several portraits of Načeva. The graphic design was done by Kryštof Doležal.
