After the worldwide success of the film With Love Vincent, this time the pair of directors focused on one of the most important works of Polish literature, "The Peasants", for which its author W. S. Reymont was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1924. The film adaptation focuses on the story of the unfortunate love of the beautiful Jagna married to the farmer Boryna, but fatally in love with his son Antek.

However, the artistic aspect is no less important: the film is shot using a unique technique of animated painting, and its authors, Dorota Kobiela Welchman and Hugh Welchman, incorporated images of prominent representatives of the Young Poland movement into it.

"Jagna became the most watched domestic film of the year in its home country of Poland and was sent to the Oscar race for Poland. No wonder: it is a purely export product that combines effective art with universally comprehensible human types and motivations. But as is often the case with this kind of adaptation, their greatest contribution is when they bring the audience to the literary original."
