Karel Šuster: Remembering Romek Hanzlík

Romek Hanzlík (*20 November 1961 / 1 June 2019) was first the guitarist of FPB, then the guitarist of Už jsme doma, then their manager, then the manager of many other bands, the creator of several festivals, the author of several books, and at the end of his life an award-winning photographer. It was he who invented and together with Václav Kučera, he stomped out of the ground the documentary "Takovej barevnej vocas letící komety" about Filip Topol and then the documentary "Rozsviť světlo, let them see". But he didn't manage to finish it...

He took his first photographs of concert in 1989. Two years later he was publishing music and theatre photographs in Cesky Deník, where he was employed. He contributes to Rock & Pop magazine, Beng!and many others. Since 1997 he has been a freelancer. Apart from shooting reportages and portraits, he also does scanning and post-production. In 1999 he started documenting the activities of the Unijazz association and regularly exhibits his photos in Čítárna Unijazz.
