The HotPotFree formation was formed in the summer of 2023 from a collaboration of German and Czech improvisation musicians who performed together with Günter “Baby” Sommer at the Boskovice Festival. The spark was ignited and the audience was thrilled. This led to the desire for a longer-term collaboration. The six instrumentalists*, who bring influences from different musical worlds (jazz, classical, world music etc.) have a common experience that has accompanied each
of them for many years: free improvisation. This creates a musical communication arises entirely out of the moment. Soundscapes are created, changed and broken again. The audience experiences the coming together of the players in different constellations and a very unique music that draws from many sources.
