Krajina Ró
Michal Němec, a founding member and bandleader of the legendary band Jablkoň, surrounded himself with young musicians and together they founded a new band called Krajina Ró. The initial impetus was Němec's meeting with composer and great guitar talent Tomáš Frolík. The two different worlds were able to get closer to each other very quickly, and immediately they added two other members of Frolík's band The BladderStones, proven bassist Johnny Judl Jr. to the party. (also plays in Jablkoň) and the excellent drummer Michael Nosek. In the meantime, Němc's niece, a unique singer and actress Anna Břenková, joined the band. It was the summer of 2019 and Krajina Ró started working on their first album.
In the Jámor studio, under the experienced supervision of Ondřej Ježek, the band recorded eleven original compositions, the lyrics of which were also written by the band members. The album was named Hotel Blázen and was released. It must be noted that everything led directly into lockdown, i.e. banning everything possible, including live perfomance. Although it slowed down the new band, it did not stop it, Krajina Ró not only performs concerts, but in the spring of 2023 recorded another self-titled album called Mlhoviny. The second album came out similarly to the first one, but it is a few years more coordinated, more compact, more solid and therefore better. In addition, producer Ježek showed that there is no need to fly to America for a perfect recording and mix, i.e. clear and beautiful sound.
Krajina Ró is characterized by the combination of a natural girl's alto voice and a kindly and unkindly gruff male baritone voice. Both voices are at home in calm poetic lyrics as well as harsh word-throwing at decibel lovers. The band's sound is mainly characterized by inimitable effects, ethereal melodies and unprecedented rock riffs of the electric guitar, connected with a whole host of magic boxes. The bass guitar and drums are not only a perfectly functioning engine room, but also solo instruments that expand Krajina Ró by another dimension with their color and creativity.
